not as good as the first one. the story wasn't flushed out very well. it felt like it was written in a rush. i still like the characters so i hope the third book deliveries a more engaging mystery, akin to the first book.

Slightly less bombastic than the first, which kept me guessing because I didn't know which way the story would turn. The detective, Nevada, Clean Head, and Tinkler are all special (affectionate) and special (derogatory) in their own ways, and I love watching them solve the mystery while firmly entrenched in a moral grey area.

Didn't enjoy it as much as the first one. Think if I'm going to continue the series it'll be borrowed from the library rather than purchased.

I don't think this book really fulfilled its promise. It was an easy enough read but even towards the end i wanted to just be done with it. I think it introduced characters then forgot about them and suddenly thought oh we should bring so and so back into it. i just wanted more and i don't think i will bother with the next in the series.
