Not as good as the first, but I still enjoyed it.

I really like how things are shaping up and how the various subplots are coming together. I'm anticipating Gwen having some serious revelations coming her way, and I don't trust Amon a bit. While the backstory concerning monsters and their hunters wasn't earth-shattering, it was solidly presented and highly entertaining.

See my review of [b:iZombie, Vol. 1: Dead to the World|8493612|iZombie, Vol. 1 Dead to the World|Chris Roberson|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1349051312s/8493612.jpg|13239119] for my overall opinion of the series. This volume adds some vampires and continues the development of the first.

The first volume is so interesting and ends on such a weird note, and then the second volume starts off with a standalone backstory issue and when it gets into the main story again does a lot of rehashing of the premise that I found very boring.

Kind of a slow read, but I like the backstory we got on Gwen and Ellie. I can tell this is a set up for the next story arc, so I will continue this series! I'm really digging this urban fantasy story.

While the glacial inching forward of the plot didn't speed up any since the first volume, I have adjusted to the meandering pace of this series, and I am enjoying the minutiae of the characters' day-to-day comings and goings. And this volume is focused a great deal more on the entire ensemble cast than the first volume, which focused more on the title character, Gwen Dylan.

One complaint I had is that the last section of the book, titled "Ghost Stories" -- possibly bonus content, I am not really sure -- was terribly drawn, which was a surprising let down from the normally beautiful artwork.

i still think this a fun series that fallows a group of 20-something year old friends, one's a zombie living a normal life other than she needs to eat brains every so often, a ghost who died in the 60's, and a were-terrier (not a werewolf, but terrier as in dog, haha). plus the artwork appeals to me - the cover pictured here with the monkey looks weird, but the version i have (with a vampire chick on the cover) is much better
