I just... I've never been so confused by a book before. This entire series, no matter the awful things that happened, still managed to be what I would consider kid friendly (and I use that term very loosely). Deaths and wounds were usually glazed over, or at least not explained in gruesome detail. This book is a complete juxtaposition of that. From the very beginning, the bleak reality of life after the apocalypse is presented without reserve. Wounds are more grotesque. More "adult" topics are explored. I MEAN ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? MAX. PREGNANT?! AND DYLAN KILLING HIMSELF????? . I just can't believe how this books so different from the rest.
In the end, all I seem to have noticed is that the only person that gets their happy ending is Max. Everyone else suffers massive losses. But Max gets her happy ending. To me, this feels like fan service on Patterson's part. There are so many loose ends. So many explained plot lines. So many faults.
After (re)reading all nine books in the span of less than a week, I can't even find the words to explain how shocked I am. This book is so unlike the rest. And not in a good way, in my opinion. I'm speechless. Maybe this is because I've read so much in the past few days, it's 2 AM, and I'm leaving to go back to college for another hellish semester in 7 hours, but I think even if I were more clear-headed I would have the same opinion. This ending sucked.
If you were looking for a light and fluffy conclusion to this series, this is not it.

I'm sorry. I just have to say it. I hated this book.
This is how I feel at the moment. Why did you do this to me James Patterson? How could you kill Dylan? I know a lot of you might be on team Fang, but I'm sorry. I was on team Dylan ever since I found out in book whichever that he couldn't love anyone else than Max. I mean, come on. Fang can find someone else, but Dylan was engineered for Max. He can never love anyone else. Fang almost betrayed Max for her own duplicate. I mean come on. Who does that? Dylan was always there. Even when he didn't have to be. HE was the most loyal friend until the end.
So long friend.

I am glad he wrote another book. The end of the previous was terrible but this book wasn't much better. It was predictable. I predicted everything in this book from the very beginning of the book.
I will not be recommending this series. It was too big a let down for me.

Patterson is definitely stretching the series at this point
A pretty good end to the series. (This one is the end, right?) But seriously, it was better than I was expecting, although I had pretty low expectations. The plot wasn't anything special, but the ending really tugged at my heartstrings. I did have a major problem with one specific event that happens towards the end, (I mean, electrocuting someone back to life? What is this, the 1800s?) but it might not bother other people the way it bothered me. If you're caught up with the entire series up to this one but aren't sure if you want to continue, you might as well read it. It's a fast read, and the ending is far more satisfying than the previous book's.
Let's see here.
OTP is endgame, good plot development, and a character I found to be pointless gets some character development and/or gets killed off.
Why wasn't the final season of my favorite show like this?!
*death stares at creators of favorite show*

i really read 3 of these books in one day and they were all terrible huh
well. at least it's over
