I didn't love it, but it made for a much better ending to the series than Nevermore.
I was not aware that there would be a ninth book after Nevermore. I was shocked but excited because to me Nevermore was pretty confusing and unsatisfying.
I teared up a lot cause this story is basically my childhood/prepubescent-period-hood.
I NOPED my way through the 'deaths' of the flock, a part of me knew that Dylan was alive and that he was Horseman but mostly it just didn't seem like the right way for the flock to go, separated from each other and on such bad terms... it didn't feel right
It was nice to finally get a chapter that truly revealed Angel and everything she's been trying to do, everything she's had to go through... felt like we were back to book one, back to before it looked like she was a whacked out psycho. I finally understood.
Basically, it was a satisfying end, more satisfying than Nevermore at any rate. But The Angel Experiment is still my favorite book in the whole series.

First off I'd like to thank the person who took the time to put sticky notes with their sarcastic comments about the book on them in the book for me. They made the reading much more enjoyable.
Second, I'd like to ask James Patterson why he felt the need to write this book. Just. Why.
Let me give you a short summery, for those who want to know what happened, but don't feel like wasting precious hours actually reading the book.
So basically it's apocalypse. Why I couldn't tell you. Bombs, natural disasters, you name it. All on the same day, somehow. Oh and some meteors or something. So the flock is chilling, trying to survive and stuff. Dylan goes to get some water, doesn't come back.
Death count: 1
They fly to Australia for "safety." Oops, it's exploded too and overrun with bad guys. Akila (remember her? Total's wife? I didn't either) gets killed by badguys.
Death count: 2
Sad funeral, much crying. Angel has visions and somehow convinces Fang to leave flock. Fang leaves flock for California. Iggy and Gasman leave for somewhere else. Angel leaves for Russia. Max is very upset, then takes Nudge and Total BACK to completely destroyed island for no apparent reason. SURPRISE there are still mutants alive there but they hate them. Some mutants die.
Death count: 5
We discover that Max's mom and half-sister have also died.
Death count: 7
Max is again very upset and decides to ditch Total and Nudge and leave for Africa (I could not tell you why). She meets some albinos who try to kill her so they can eat her wings. She goes someplace else. A "Horseman" (some sort of mutant or something basically a REALLY bad guy like you've seen bad guys before but apparently these guys are worse) attacks Nudge.
Death count: 8
Total is then stabbed by Horseman.
Death count: 9
Iggy and Gasman have apparently reached their destination and are for some reason cleaning poop out of a basement. Horseman arrives.
Death count: 11
Fang is now chilling in Alaska, and comes across DYLAN (surprise not surprise he's not dead) fighting with a bunch of baddies.
Death count: 10
Jeb then shows up randomly and the baddies rip fangs wings off and throw him off a cliff. Yay.
Death count: 11
Back to Russia, Angel is sitting in a tree and crying. Horseman arrives. Reveals that he is Dylan (???). The pair leave to find Max. They find Max and inform her that SURPRISE not everyone is dead they've all been saved by Dylan (How he saved all of them is never explained and makes next to no sense but apparently we're supposed to roll with it) and they're all chilling at a secret base in Alaska. Except Akila. And Max's mom. And Ella. And Fang. Oops. Insert much sadness, anger and angst on Max's part, then we fly to Alaska.
Death count: 7
Everyone's there and they launch a plan to destroy the baddy base. It is revealed that somehow the big baddie is the doctor guy who I only vaguely remember and believe died in a plane that crashed in a giant ball of fire. Somehow he survived that. Somehow. They infiltrate the place, Max meets Jeb, tries to kill him, can't. Because even though he, you know, wrecked her life, killed the love of her life, killed her mom and half-sister, blew up the world, etc. he's still her dad and she can't kill him. Wonderful. Jeb then proceeds to strap her to a table and try to experiment on her. Plot device Star bursts in and kills him
Death count: 8
Max nabs the big baddy and flies way high in the sky with him (Seems like a bad strategy but then I guess I'm not the Super Cool Bird Girl Hero Maximum Ride). He tries to detonate a bomb, but it somehow doesn't explode. What luck. Max drops a real bomb, screaming that SHE'S PREGNANT WITH FANG'S BABY WOW and then drops the baddy. He hits ground. Dead.
Death count: 9
Max is happy battle is won, but sad Fang is dead. Dylan brings her to his secret lab and says that he went and found Fang's body for her (creepy), sewed it back together (more creepy), and has made new wings for him (creepier). He THEN reveals that he can bring him back to life! Apparently Dylan is now Frankenstein. So Max is like YAY super cute brooding boyfriend back to life? Sounds perfect sign me up. Dylan then attaches himself to the wires (seems like a bad decision to me but hey what do I know about brining people back from the dead) and Fang is now alive. Unfortunately Dylan is dead. Oops.
Max's baby is born and she names her "Phoenix" because she "rose from the ashes of a new world" or something cliche like that. There are then three epilogues because James just can't let the damn story go, each as cheesy and unnecessary as the last. And then it's finally over.
