I’m beginning to wonder if this doesn’t actually clash with the Vader (2020) comics… especially with the whole Vader figuring out Luke is his son.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s good and I loved the inserts from Anakin’s memories (Padmé!!!!), but it’s really hard to understand where these different series come in the canon timeline.

Really liked my introduction to Aphra though. Make me want to know more about her (and maybe finally pick up her comics).

This is my first Star Wars comic book. In fact, last year was the first year I ever watched the Star Wars movies. The prequels quickly became my favorites, and Anakin my favorite character. So I was lucky to pick this up from my friend's excessive collection.

Having fallen in love with Vader, this volume has all the fan service I wanted. I gasped audibly at the scenes between him and Dr. Aphra. Goodness. The chemistry is tense, and it hints towards a future romance, though possibly one-sided. It leaves you wanting more.

Dr. Aphra is a great new character. Smart, witty and not overly sexualized. It's refreshing to see someone work for Anakin with a rebellious streak, a bit of anarchism in her blood, and not overtly evil. Nuance.

Vader's development as a character serves as a humanization that isn't much present after the prequels. His insecurity, his youthfulness along his maturity. Brilliant. The drawings truly captures it as well.

I will definitely pick up Vol. 2.
