Probably my least favorite of the series so far....though I may have said that about a previous book

The first half was kind of a snorefest and this feels like a novella padded out to a novel (even if its not that long of a novel).

There are some good parts and I liked the second half.  The new POV was fine, but not anything I would write home about.  We'll see if the new POV grows in terms of importance.

'Komarr' is a delight.

In this installment of the long-running Vorkosigan Saga, Miles Vorkosigan finds himself working as an Imperial Auditor. In the vaguely Romanesque star-empire of these books, Imperial Auditors are hyper-powered Inspectors General. They answer only to the Emperor, can (figuratively) speak with his voice, and are empowered to go anywhere and ask anyone anything in their mission to fix the really, really hard problems.

Go anywhere? Ask anyone anything? Oh, Miles. They've found the perfect job for you.

But Miles is new in the gig. He's tagging along with a senior Auditor, intending to learn on the job, as they investigate an accident which severely damaged a solar array that was providing a much-needed light and heat boost to a cold planet.

Ok, there's some science fictiony stuff happening here. Don’t go away. Bottom line: this is a mystery. What happened? Who, if anyone, is responsible? How do they keep it from happening again? The draw lies in author Bujold's writing style. Her characters feel like real people. Her scenarios, while requiring some sci-fi handwaving, seem reasonable. She can build tension, develop characters, and pay everything off in grand style.

In short, Lois McMaster Bujold is good at her job. I'm already looking forward to the next installment in the Vorkosigan Saga.

It’s probably the weakest of the Vorkosigan books I’ve read so far, but it is still enjoyable.

It doesn’t have the emotional appeal or the remarkable action that I’ve come to love in the previous entries. It relies heavily on the reader caring enough about Miles to connect with him and his struggle in this novel.

If you’ve read the previous entries as I have, you will care about Miles and his journey, to a point.

As for the other main character, Ekaterina, I found her quite enjoyable, though a bit clichéd and underdeveloped. She’s the only character with an actual arc, so I did enjoy following her storyline.

The plot in this novel is… pretty lame, to be honest, more of an excuse to give Miles a romantic adventure of sorts. Bujold’s writing style and humour, however, help a lot, making it very readable.
It’s worth reading if you’re going through the whole Vorkosigan saga as I am, but in itself, it’s pretty forgettable.

Pero vamos a ver, qué voy a hacer yo cuando se me acabe la saga? Miles entrando en la lista de hombres escritos por mujeres que te enamoran tirando... Persuadiendo a la puerta para que se abra.

I liked seeing more Auditors. Thought it was a little silly that
the bad guys' plan would not have worked anyway!
