I had a book of Hans Christian Anderson tales and now I’m mad that I gave it away. I really enjoyed this story no matter how short it was and I was interested by it because I of course grew up watching the animated version by Disney and with the live action out I thought I might as well give the original a go.

The Little Mermaid movies add so much whimsy to the original story.

Lovely adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen original, complete with singing, sound effects and high quality sound production.
Some gripes - I didn't enjoy how the narrator continuously breaks the fourth wall and talks to the listener, nor how she makes multiple references to 'modern day activities'. It's rather unnecessary and when we're immersed in the story, it yanks us back into the real world. However this is very little time investment for a lovely take on a classic story, definitely very worth it.
