Look at love
How it tangles
With the one fallen in love
Look at spirit
How it fuses with earth
Giving it new life

This was such an enchanting book to read. Their love story follows through their entire life: when they met, when they were separated, and what happened. Sometimes fate has other plans for life and to see everything happen to Roya and Bahman made me so sad. I did really love the storytelling and character development. And those special heartwarming moments were so worth waiting for

I just kinda lost interest 😭 the writing style is not my favorite,  and I have other books I want to be reading right now, but maybe I’ll go back to reading this some other time

Nostalgic and bittersweet.

I thought the story would focus more on the political conflict in 1953 Iran and how this historical event affected characters, but I thought wrong. The author threw a bunch of cliches into the story and decorated it with the cruel coup d'etat to show (attempted to but failed, actually) the deepness of this book. But that's not how a good story works, those elements are not organically connected.
Sometimes when I have an unpopular opinions on books of high ratings, I know both why people like these books and why I have different thoughts, but this time I cannot get the high rating either to be honest.

"It is a love from which we never recover."
Every line that I read broke my heart and made me cry. To think how painfully and cruelly their love was snatched from them. They could've been together, they should've been together. This was devastating. How do you recover from this book. So beautiful so painful. I finished it in a day and it was crazy like i time traveled to 1953.
