I was hit with the strong urge to know the story of the nutcracker the other day. I sat through a bad recording of the very stunning ballet and knew a lot was missing... so then I scrambled and scrounged together this book, desperate for answers.
This book reads easily despite being written in the 1800s. The world is whimsical and vivid. There's pacing issues, but honestly that comes with the territory. I still have questions but at the end of the day, this was the vivid and strange story I hoped it would be
