I went into this book not expecting much, but it just blew me away! Nearly Boswell was a smart, spunky heroine whose perspective I enjoyed very much. I deducted a star because of the few problematic situations I saw in the book, but all in all, it was enjoyable, suspenseful, thrilling read!
Fabulous writing.Faboulous suspension.Fabulous setting.Fabulous narration.
That is all good about the book.
What is bad?
1.the book gives a dark feeling on the whole. There is vey little no cheerful feeling at all.
2.Both the leads have shitty lives ,You can't fall in love with either of them.
3.The story somehow cuts at normal intervals and the pace is very indefinite.
On the whole,I somehow managed reading it,without falling in love and at the same time, staying very far from hating it.
My suggestion :Read it.! Who knows, you might like it :)

This book really surprised me, I didn't know what to expect and I am so happy I took a chance with this book! Everything about this book is so perfect, from the amazing characters to a really unique plot filled with a lot of riddles. Sincerely, this book has found a special place in my heart!
WHY ISN'T THIS BOOK MORE POPULAR?
This reminded me of Veronica Mars and the Unbecoming of Mara Dyer.
But mostly of Veronica Mars.
It was so creeeeepy!
It was so suspenseful and I felt so on the edge! I just wanted to know what happened next!
Reese is soooooooooooo cute! <3 *swoons*

Synopsis
Nearly is a social misfit with an odd obsession with reading the Friday Classifieds. It's through these ads that someone starts sending Nearly cryptic riddles...and then people start dying. All these people have a direct connection to Nearly and she realizes the the killer is trying to frame her. But why? Going to the police got Nearly nothing but suspicion from the police who have instructed a high school narc to get close to her. With the ability to feel people's emotions when she touches them, Nearly is convinced that she is the only one who can solve the riddles and find the killer, before she becomes the next victim.
Thoughts on the Plot
First off I want to get the negative out of the way. Nearly is an idiot sometimes. She's blind to the obvious. She doesn't get the whole number clue thing which made me want to throttle her because I had figured that part out fairly quickly without her help. Anyhow, she's too trusting, she makes excuses for Reece when really she should be a little more POed at him and this whole YA phase of the misunderstood bad boy with the heart of gold thing is getting really old. It was okay and in this case, he's not a terrible guy per say, but enough is enough. Stop it. Give us a good guy undercover narc who's doing it for completely noble reasons.
Now that that is off my chest we can continue to the good.
This book is a fairly complex, fascinating read that sucks you in and makes you read this book well past your bedtime (which I do regret doing even though it was for a good cause and I wouldn't have been able to sleep if I didn't finish it). It actually had me guessing most of the way (though the serial killer was on my radar), which is refreshing because most books are way too easy to figure out at the YA level. The misdirection was subtle in some cases, yet blaring in others. Fun!
For the most part I enjoyed the characters and how the author weaved a lot of the secondary characters into the plot to thicken it and give it more texture. It's way more fun to read a mystery/thriller when you have a whole bunch of people thrown into the mix and you get a tiny bit of back story on all of them. I hope some of them carry over to the next book in the series.
As for the basic characters:
Nearly- is a pretty complex character, who is just trying to win a scholarship so she can get out of the dump she calls home. She loves her mom (who works a terrible job in order to support her daughter) she cares for her friends (though sometimes she's, again, an idiot), she misses her dad, tries to keep her nose out of trouble, and she is driven to be number one at her schooling.
Her mother is just as motivated to get her daughter off to college and out of the crapper they call home, driving her hard to succeed and implementing a ton of rules to keep her on track. Her mom does NOT want her daughter to be like her.
Anh- is a friend of Nearly's and her prime competition for the scholarship that is one person's ticket to college. It makes their relationship a little difficult. They study together, they talk, they do friend thing like phone each other and gossip. But when in the classroom they are adversaries as well as friends and neither of them hold back.
Jeremy- is messed up. Nearly's best friend. Suicidal, seeing a therapist, on anti-depressants and entirely too focused on Nearly. Nearly uses her abilities to try and help him (tasting his mood and trying to get him to talk), but being a dude he doesn't tell her anything. And being teenagers, they fight with each other and are generally clueless to each others feelings, I feel like he was written in as a bit of a tool (and decoy) for the author to use as a means to an end and to give the book a little bit of an unrequited love feeling the atmosphere .
Reece- the golden heart bad boy. While I didn't mind him, I wasn't swooning over this character. Reece was a drug dealer sent to juvie and then released early with the agreement that he would act as a narc for the police. But he has a secret, which I won't mention just because it's the only real mystery about him, and Nearly can't quite figure him out for the longest time. I really didn't care to be honest. Dude is a drug dealer trying to go straight and redeem himself in his own eyes. End of story.
In Conclusion
The mystery is what really made this book good in my mind. I wasn't super into the characters, I did like them though I'm not totally invested if you know what I mean, but I really wanted to know who was messing with Nearly and why. The why was...interesting. I think it's a book worthy of reading.
I'll definitely be recommending this book to the teenagers who are interested in a good mystery with a little romance on the side. I may even recommend it to friends.

I really enjoyed the build up, but I think the stakes were just too high for what the end was. A fun little dark read.
I loved this one! It was mystery with a bit of paranormal and contemporary intertwined!
I really liked Nearly as a character. Even though she’s had a rough life, she’s still fighting to make it! Reece was also great and well developed with an interesting backstory.
People start dying around Nearly, and they all connect to her. So what is a girl to do? Find out why of course. The mystery here is quite intriguing and there is a lot of the unexpected which I really liked! I’m glad there is more because I want to know what’s in store for Nearly next!

Wow I ended up liking this a lot more than I thought I would. I really loved the first 200 pages of this book and I was very intrigued by the story and curious to see where it was going. Then, Nearly did something so shockingly stupid and it pissed me off so much that I set the book down for 3 days and I didn't know if I wanted to finish reading it. Then, I finally decided I should just finish the book, and I'm genuinely impressed with how the rest of the story turned out. This book is mysteriously and suspenseful and everything you would want in a thriller. The only problem I had with this book was Nearly's relationship with Reece. I just didn't like it and he was part of the reason why I didn't want to finish it. He made Nearly act stupid sometimes and he seemed a bit controlling at times. If he wasn't in the story it would've been an easy 5 stars, but he really bugged me.
Nearly has a rough life because she grew up in a trailer park and her Mom is a stripper and her father abandoned them and she's trying to figure out why. I love that her name is Nearly because she was born premature and she barely made it and her parents "nearly" lost her. I love creative names like that that actually mean something. It kind of reminded me of Teen Wolf with the way she would find dead bodies before anyone else (like Lydia in Teen Wolf) which was awesome cause I love that show. I really liked Nearly's relationship with Jeremy and I thought they were cute childhood friends.
The mystery in this book was really well done and it had me guessing till the end. the ending was surprising and I never could have guessed it even if I tried. The reason for the numbers on the wrists of the dead bodies was so cool and I totally wasn't expecting it. Very original idea. I am glad this will be a series because the ending is quite a cliffhanger. Can't wait to read the next one next year! :)
