My Thoughts:

I really enjoyed this book, but after I was finished reading it, I went on this site and seen such bad reviews for it. One in particular made me question whether it was really as good as I thought it was. Which, in turn, made me upset. I know...I know I shouldn't do that, though...I should know that everyone likes and dislikes a book for their own reasons. So...yeah, I liked it, Damn it...

I did see more than one person say something about how their isn't any Trailer Parks in the DC area...for one, who cares (it's a made-up story) and two, how do they know for sure their isn't any...I mean, they like to hide those kinds of places behind a bunch a trees and sh*t.

In closing, now that I'm done with my rant, I was thoroughly entertained by this young adult Sci-fi/Mystery.

You know those books where you're staying up way past your bedtime to get just one more chapter (or three or four) in? This is one of those books. As a thriller, it was exactly what I enjoy: consistently well-paced, not gratuitous, plenty of red herrings and potential suspects, and a sense of imminent danger. The MC, Nearly, is painfully real. She makes mistakes, she jumps to conclusions, she lacks faith in herself...but she's also very smart, very focused, and very stubborn. I really liked her, even when I was yelling at the pages because she was being....well, a teenager. I'm glad I have the sequel, which I'll be diving into next, because I can't wait to see what other shenanigans she gets up to.

Meh.

This book brings nothing new to the table. It takes the one interesting, supernatural idea and ignores it. It takes a smart protagonist and makes her colossally stupid at times just to propel the plot. And it throws in a bad-boy love interest who I found uninteresting.

The mystery was interesting, and I didn't figure out who the murderer was in this whodunnit.

Would recommend for those in love with the "[Blank] must find the killer before he/she becomes the next victim".
