An incredible book that details the horrors, hope, stress, love, trauma, and community of organizing against state violence and oppression. A beautiful memoir, reflection, story of hope, and call to action all in one. 11/10 recommend!

A very powerful memoir, both about the BLM movement and the woman who co-founded it. Raw and emotional, informative and uncomfortable, honest and hopeful. Focused on the Black experience with government and law enforcement, but delves into how that intersects with the experience of those with mental illness, those living in poverty, and the  queer community.

This is a truly revelatory book that should be on everyone's TBR list.

Anyone who thinks they know what “Black Lives Matter” is about should take the time to read this book. Patrisse Khan-Cullors illuminates her very personal reasons for creating the hashtag heard round the world. As an abolitionist; this book reiterated and reinforced all the reasons that prison and policing  aren’t the answers to a safer, more loving America.
