If you're a fan of nonfiction read this. It's such a unique view on undercover work. Seeing through the undercover cops eyes is eye opening and enlightening.

This was an interesting memoir. One Jay was able to make use of extensive notes and thus you get a very chronological story that was easy to follow and seems that it is as accurate as one person's account can be.
The other thing that stands out is that Jay does do a lot of reflecting on how his behavior changed and affected others including his wife, kids, and partners. Those moments are always interesting because he doesn't make himself the hero, in fact you can tell how misguided he is just to get a job done.
You might also might get that the mission while somewhat successful seems to be a fishing expedition with no singular aim other than to catch them, at least that's how Jay makes it seem. You can also see the club is falling apart in a lot of ways based on the progress his team makes in a short amount of time.
This is a good look at the mind of someone in the undercover world and the stress it gives you.

I'm not sure why this has so many one-star reviews, I really liked this one! He's not supposed to be a likable person first of all he's an undercover cop and second, he's pretending to be a biker to take down the Hells Angels, he's not a cool dude. I thought his story was super interesting and also sad because he ended up turning into the guy he was pretending to be.

A gripping read - I didn't want to put this book down and found myself emotionally involved while reading it. A excellent addition to my collection of superb memoirs.
