This book could have been good but the decision to jump around in time made it horribly difficult to follow.

I was worried I wasn't going to like this one as it looked like it went off track. Never fear! Peter Grant doing his usual best.
Interestingly juxtaposed against the previous installment; historical legends vs mechanical/industrial. Aaronovitch experiments a little with the narrative structure in this one, by alternating further past and recent past events and sets up a bit of a red herring regarding Peter's current status.
I really enjoyed all the side characters that popped up in this one, the coworkers, the Librarians, other police members. I also loved the tender moments between Bev and Peter, and their discussion on the glamour issue. It isn't resolved, or hashed out cleanly, but I enjoyed it being addressed, as well as Bev's comments and objections to Peter's work and consequences thereof.
