Good addition to the series expanding the Riversverse in lots of new directions with customary good humour. Chronology rooted at the start of 2016 which makes me eager to see what the author does with the turmoil of the upcoming years. Long may it continue.

This is perhaps the weakest in the Rivers of London series, though still awesome. I find it weaker than the others because in the beginning the chapters alternate between back and forwards in time and if you're doing audio like me, you don't necessarily catch on that right away and thus get completely confused what's going on. But once that stopped and everything came together, it went back to being the great series it has always been.

Usual great story but it stopped at lot quicker than I expected
I always enjoy these audiobooks but I think I'm getting to a diminishing returns point with the series itself. It's perhaps TOO serialised for me. There are so many subplots introduced and left hanging for future books which I will have inevitably forgotten about by the time the next one comes out (they read like a TV show but without the "previously on..."). I'll always have a soft spot for Peter Grant and Kobna is such a fabulous narrator.

Rivers of London series, a little bit of fantasy and some great characters.
Now here is something rare in an urban fantasy series, a book that re-pilots the series, changes the narrative approach and expands the setting without losing the series' spirit. This book honestly works both as great place to start reading this series and as a continuation. I am awed and slightly tempted to dissect it just to see how it was done.
That said, I really enjoyed that setting expansion, specially because The Librarians read like your garden-variety American Urban Fantasy Styled Magical Secret Society, and as someone that is most certainly not American I've always wanted to see some - shall we say - consequences to the sort of action those types take. Also, we get some answers about Rivers and spirits in general, which is always nice.
And, as always Ben Aaronovitch writes circles around most people, this time reminding us that he is actually pretty tech savvy and either knows how a corporation looks from the inside or knows enough to fool me. I liked the humour, the boardgaming, the references and the antics, which might just mean I'm in the target demographics, but made me feel Quite Into It.
Excited to see where this series will go next!
