This book is just so fun. That’s really all there is to say.

Hilarious and informative, my favorite combo. I especially like the author’s constant refrain of “no matter what you like or don’t like, I GUARANTEE that someone else has been there done that too”

Fascinating stuff! I do wish the material had been organized a little bit better. I would love to see this as a miniseries because I think pairing it with the visuals would be incredible.

I think this book accomplishes the goal it sets out for itself, which is de-stigmatizing sex. I can't really say there was anything wrong with it. But it somehow didn't quite meet my expectations. The chapter structure was almost always the same (animals -> history -> modern humans), which I found a bit boring. In general, I was hoping there would be more emphasis on modern times, even though I understand the grounding we were doing in history and nature.
I also found some examples simplistic, and there were a couple of jokes that I think fell flat under closer scrutiny. By staying very surface level, this book is able to cover an insane amount of examples. Which is definitely one approach to the topic. But I often wished we could have stayed with some examples longer.
All in all, really nothing wrong with this book but it somehow fell flat for me.

Incredibly interesting. Lots of little facts I was able to discuss with others. Made me question a lot about the “settled science” in this field (i.e. it isn’t settled and hasn’t really ever been settled. We’re still figuring A LOT things out). Highly recommend the read.
