A wonderful book as an introduction to the subject; if you are well-read in this area, nothing is really new here. However, it's a quick, witty, insightful read so you may want to take it in anyway. The author does an excellent job presenting the material and flowing the book, keeping the basic themes always at the forefront while entertaining. Each chapter, however, has the ability to be an entire book, so topics are addressed only briefly and to no depth.

Well this book wasn't what I was expecting - but It was funny, informative, and enlightening .
I think I had this pre-conception that it would be more 'unknown stories from the dark ages/middle ages/medieval times', but it was more of a brief history of individual topics related to sex (e.g. contraception, biological knowledge, kinks, etc). Turns out a lot of these topics don't have a very long (known) history.
The author has a great voice - and doesn't take themselves too seriously. I found myself laughing out loud to a lot of the commentary they provided. And I applaud them for being able to simplify, and make accessible, a lot of the complicated, biased, and problematic history related to sex and sex-adjacent topics.

Not really very informative (and filled with grammatical errors, which made my eye twitch), but generally an easy and fun read.
