Well they say the sequel is never as good as the original and this is very true. This book of course centers around a detective with severe OCD. However, he is magically able to fly because of a fictional drug that makes him not care about germs which results in him flying, swimming, sharing food with strangers. He turns into a "cool" guy with no drawbacks. He then immediately turns back into his normal self, solves a crime (obviously) and then takes more of the drug and turns cool to fly back home. The explanation of the crime was ... meh and the attempted plot twist fell flat. Ah well. On to number 3!

These fan-fiction novels feel somewhat different than the TV show. The main thing is that they are told exclusively from Natalie Teeger's perspective - she's the only narrator. You are not in Monk's head at all and if he happens to be alone or not in Natalie's presence, i.e. if he is in session with Dr. Kroeger - which I loved in the show - then you miss out. I mean, it's great because I love all the characters, but I almost wish the author would use 3rd person perspective or switch perspectives so you could see the world through Monk's eyes or other person's eyes besides Natalie's.

This one felt more mean than fun. Will check out book number three to see if I am going to continue. Monk's character felt even more like a caricature in this one and none of the "professionals" came across that way.

This was such a fun and entertaining read. It was so much like the shows, that I remember anyway, and was great because of that.
Just an all around fun read, a good one if you're looking for a break from serious reading.
