Reading about how Jasper handled James absolutely delighted me. Not only are his talents much more complex and powerful than Bella had ever known (cloaking himself in “boredom” as a disguise until the final moment) (cool as fuck), he was just so necessary for Edward’s sanity as they drove to the ballet studio. The way he forced calm on Edward via gentle touch to the back of the neck felt so caring and brotherly to me. So special. Jasper’s my new favourite, so underrated. Really cool to hear Alice’s planning too, how she thinks ahead and rearranges everything perfectly in her mind and props before it takes place. I also loved hearing right from the source how Edward’s life changed and how he felt happiness for the first time.

Much more interesting than twilight. Now I wish the whole series had been in Edward’s POV.

Even though I’ve read Twilight and knew what was going to happen, this was enough of a new book that I thoroughly enjoyed all 817 pages. You do get stuck in Edward's head a lot which made me flip back to see if this was something that was actually happening or just in his thoughts or Alice’s predictions. But being able to read this story from Edward’s POV was very entertaining and I loved it.

Loved how this book is clearly made for Stephanie’s grown up fans and how it fills in some of the plot questions from the first movie. I loved Edwards perspective almost made me reread the entire series

Edward is so boring and angsty, at first it was great because it was a much darker read than Twilight, but it got old very quickly. It was a very slow read up until the final few chapters, where a lot happens at once.

I have zero shame in saying that I’ve been a Twilight fan since day one. Although I don’t love Stephanie’s writing style, the story has its own magic that I’ve always loved. When the original series was first out, and this book was leaked and then all the drama about Stephanie not finishing it, I was so bummed. So when this was released, I was so excited. But honestly I think I could have done without it.

Edwards perspective just made the dynamic with him and Bella weird for me. And comparing this to more recent YA books over the last couple of years, it’s so obvious how screwed up their relationship is in versus when I read the original series so many years ago. With that said, overall, as such a big fan of the original series and the movies, this was a nice nostalgic read for me. And my favorite part was seeing Alice’s vision through Edward, I could honestly read a whole sub-series of just Alice, she was always my favorite character.
