This one has some fascinating background worldbuilding, but the novel is a quite close retelling of Sherlock Holmes stories. (well, at the least the first bit are -- I haven't read all the stories and it was ages ago, so I can't tell you if the latter ones do as well) That makes this the kind of book that is for people who enjoy the familiarity of Sherlock stories and will have fun seeing the characters tweaked a bit.
I enjoyed Crow more than some Sherlock adaptations I've experienced. I got less of a feeling of arrogance or a lack of empathy and something more akin to folks I know who are on the autism spectrum. The Watson -- Doyle -- had a great voice. I did, perhaps, find myself wanting to know more about how the world differs with all these supernatural beings in it, but understand that it was outside the scope of the tale.
The pace of it all was pretty leisurely -- perhaps because familiar tales don't require such a level of urgency -- and that allowed for some incredibly lovely writing.
This was a 3.5 star read for me.

I think this is my favorite Holmes adaptation, I loved the mentions of multiple cases worked into a new urban fantasy setting. Please tell me there will be more?

I am utterly (though not irrationally) in love with this book. It gave me everything I wanted/needed, and I never wanted it to end. What an amazing reading experience I had! I laughed at this book, gasped, covered my eyes while attempting to read because help, what's happening? (the answer being, inevitably: something you'll love). I fell in love with the characters all over again, I adored this version of London, and I really appreciated the author's twist on canon. Gah. What a book!

Although it took me a while to read, The Angel of the Crows was an interesting read. I will say that I enjoyed some “episodes” more than others. I liked the world the author created and Doyle was a sympathetic narrator.
I loved it. Twists and turns and ups and downs. I honestly didn't want to put it down. Don't make the mistake I did and read it piecemeal. Carve out some time to sit and revel in it.
