Beyond the short nonfiction and interviews, this was really only four stories, so if one wasn't great it makes sense for me to drop my 10 star rating to 7.5. And that's what happened: the Adventurer's Wife was much less smart than I think it thought it was. It was not satisfying. Red Hood and But Only Because I Love You were both fun and pulpy, not taking themselves too seriously and clearly not striving for fine fine art (right?). The Stephen Graham Jones interview was a cut few thousand words, he's an interesting guy, and Figs, Detached was my favorite piece, a mythpunk work. So what's that average out to, 4/5? Close enough. I'm glad I spent $3 on this issue but it was so many reprints of other anthology stories I'm going to read later it felt like my finances were not being utilized.
