Jeter's prose is far from my favorite, but I do enjoy the creativity and further expansion of the universe.
3.5/5 Scenes definitely drag, but at least they're mostly *good* scenes.

2.5 stars, I guess.

Listen there are some really interesting parts in this. Boba Fett, in particular, is super compelling in this novel and I wish he was included more in the overall narrative. But the pacing in this is nonsense. It goes back and forth for the entire thing which really mucks up the narrative and makes the whole thing read as a prelude to a more interesting story I'm never going to get to because I was bored for like half of this book.

The Star Wars EU overall is super interesting and this book does match that vibe with a handful of scenes, but the majority of the book is honestly super dull. If you're looking to get into the Star Wars EU, you can probably do better with another choice.

I will say that I've never been a big Boba Fett fan until this book though. They definitely did an excellent job adding some depth to his character and really highlighting his positive qualities and contributions to the Star Wars universe.

Abridged Audiobook.

I don't know. I wasn't really paying attention. 3 "it's not your fault I was only half listening, but you couldn't have been that great if you didn't pull me away from what I was doing" stars.

Not bad at all, nothing astonishing but it gets the tone of the characters pretty spot on and opens a believable story arc concerning few of star wars' main characters.

Ultimately a LOT of fun. It takes a minute to get your bearings in the beginning, but once you’re oriented in the story it’s a really well executed tale.

Okay, I had to downgrade my review from a 4 star to a 3 star after giving it some time. This book isn't awful, but it's not great. Also, I'm currently halfway through the second book, which is proving to be worse than the first, so at this point I don't really recommend the entire trilogy.

First, this book is slow. That said, enough does happen in this first book that I think it keeps you interested. You go back and forth between "Now" when Boba Fett is recovering (mostly boring until the end) and "Then" when stuff actually happens (albeit slowly). There are a few good characters. I thought Kud'ar Mub'at was really interesting, though I'm still confused as to why that character is even in this story. Bossk and the Bounty Hunter's Guild is kind of meh though. Neelah is pointless here (but don't worry, in book 2 she's angry, such depth). Dengar was interesting, but the reason for why he's helping Fett is weak at best. In fact, the plot as a whole is pretty weak and not really going anywhere. My main question after finishing is: What is the point?????

A lot of this book is just long drawn out conversations between characters interrupted by long internal monologues. The author likes having characters talk strategy, but it's like listening to a bunch of people who are really mediocre at chess have long conversations where they discuss chess strategy without actually playing any chess. Boba Fett is probably the only character that doesn't seem dumb and that's mostly because we don't really get to see his thought process, which is kind of a bummer because he's probably the one character that people are here for.

Anyway, I feel like I'm being harsh, so like I said, there is enough here that I did like this first book. I mean, I initially rated it 4 stars, and I think that's because the ending was decent and it's about Boba Fett. Plus I read through it pretty quickly, so it didn't seem like too much of a slog. But yeah, book 2 so far...ugh.

Although no longer cannon, this book gives Boba Fett the story he never got in the movies. A ruthless bounty hunter, an apex predator, he's a mastermind of manipulation and a tactical genius. An entertaining (albeit short) read.

This story happens after the fall of the empire in Return Of The Jedi. You get to see what happens to Boba Fett after he gets thrown into the mouth of the Sarlacc and how he got to be at Jabba's palace. Really interesting story, and there are two more books that continue the story. Next up is, Slave Ship.
