This was the first book I was ever able to read cover to cover. I was not a reader in high school and struggled to find anything that held my attention. This book is out of the norm from my typical genre but I absolutely love his writing and voice. I recommend this book to EVERYONE that reads horror/thriller.

Yet another book that one of my friends insisted me reading, I found Whispers surprisingly good. I've been putting off reading Koontz for several years now, but thoroughly enjoyed this story. Some may contend that he took the psychology in the story a touch too far, but I found the story quite believable... as far as stories go.
The story may be a bit far-fetched, but it emphasises what a major part our past and upbringing has on our daily interactions with others and our environment. It is truly a scary novel, not so much offering constant frightening scenes, but rather the slow build-up revealing how our childhoods influences our actions in adulthood. It made me reconsider the way I raise and treat my kids.
I will definitely read more of Dean Koontz, but where to begin? I suppose I'm going to have start doing research into his books now.

The *cause* of the whispers makes my skin crawl and the thought of anyone treating their children in such a cruel manner is lamentable, because it happens all the time.
