Adele Rafferty needs a big break since working at the front desk of a shady LA motel isn't exactly helping her acting career. When she's offered the chance to star in the brand new film, "Final Draft," Adele can't say no. However, something about the entire contract, filming, and crew seem off. Adele knows one thing is for certain, she needs to get to the bottom of this.
This was my first Catherine Ryan Howard read, and while I wasn't impressed, I don't think it'll be my last. It was an ambitious feat, especially incorporating a screenplay and a book within a book, but it just fell flat in my opinion. For a thriller, I felt like there was a lack of thrills. The plot was underwhelming. Each time there was potential for a big twist, the plot fizzled out and left me wanting a lot more. There was a lot of potential but all in all, it wasn't met which is why I gave this 3 out of 5 stars.

I expected this to be more slasher and less mystery but was happy with the result all the same. Definitely kept me guessing -- the ending was very fitting and tied together all the loose ends well. I enjoyed this and it was a great fall read. I highly recommend!

Thank you Netgalley for an ARC of Run Time by Catherine Ryan Howard. This novel did keep me on the edge of my seat. I enjoyed the back and forth between the present plot and the movie plot. While I enjoyed this book, the lead character was a bit annoying and I didn’t love the narration. Overall a good suspense novel I will recommend to patrons!
