Solid 3.5 stars. Cute easy read. A little clunky in spots. Hoping for a follow up book more about the chateau!

The French Chateau Dream is the latest in the Romantic Escape series. I’ve had the pleasure of reading the previous two books, but if you haven’t had the opportunity, don’t worry: each book is a standalone story. What ties the books together is the introduction of a character in one book that takes center stage in the next.
Hattie has taken the job of wedding planner for a wealthy family member. The setting is a much-neglected French chateau set in the Champagne region, whose owner made the deal with Hattie before consulting the rest of his family, who very much have something to say about it.
There’s a ton of roadblocks and a lot of work ahead of Hattie if she’s going to pull off this wedding. There’s also the chateau’s sexy son, who is anxious to return his family’s vineyard to its former glory and produce champagne again. He’s all for Hattie fixing up the place, and the tension between them leaps off the page. Hattie’s not looking for love, but it seems to have fallen into her lap.
I really enjoyed the cast of characters, and the descriptions of the setting, which transports the reader to a French wonderland. I certainly enjoyed this bit of escapism and found this the perfect beach read for Summer 2023.

If you want to be transported to the gorgeous sights, sounds and smells of France, look no further. We travel with Hattie (or ‘attie as the rather dashing Luc pronounces it) to the French chateau as she’s tasked to arrange a wedding.
With a few set against the intrusion, she establishes herself into the French way of life and it was great to follow her adventures in this beautiful place. Such an easy place to escape to!
The romance, the plot, the characters, everything was set up to draw you in and envelope you into the story.
The audiobook was entertaining and I couldn’t wait to return back to my slice of French sunshine. A wonderful feel good book!
Thank you to the author and publisher for this audiobook on NetGalley in return for my honest thoughts and review.

It's not the most original story, but it certainly fills the heart and entertains.
Hattie arrives at a Champagne chateau to prepare everything for her cousin's wedding. It's exactly what she needed after losing herself in a relationship that had her taking care of her boyfriend, and inexplicably, his mom. She'd lost sight of herself and the joys of life, so breaking up and taking the chance her uncle offered was perfect. Except she arrives at a house that has been left abandoned by sadness just as the young owner, Luc, arrives to once again make it a working winery.
It's a story populated by interesting characters and some fun twists to make Hattie really work for her much-deserved happy ending. There are also some very romantic moments that show the different ways relationships can be, and a tiny mystery to add extra oomph to the last act. Plus, there's the mandatory in all France-set stories, the delectable descriptions of food you'll be drooling over.
As I said, it's a story that's been told countless times before that still entertains simply because it's a perfect escapist fantasy when told well, which Caplin unquestionably manages.
Delighted thanks to NetGalley and One More Chapter for the charming romance read!

Cute fluffy escape that had all the angst, intrigue and destination charm I hope for from Julie Caplin.

I found this disappointing. I've read all the Romantic Escapes novels Caplin has written and I think this was my least favorite. Weak beginning and the main character wasn't very appealing.
