Divine Rivals is a surprising, likable read. It is an enemies turned lovers, you got mail trope, with slight fantasy elements that I hope I learn more about in book 2. This book centers mainly on Iris and Roman’s story of rivals at work who fall for each despite their class and social standing differences, and with war going on. A lot of their love story was predictable and I often grew frustrated with Iris not realizing
Roman and Carver where the same.
That said, the fantasy war mystery also woven throughout the story adds a lot. There is a connection between Roman, Iris, and the gods that is slowly unraveled. The typewriters are one thing, but the families clearly know more. This was a quick read as I could not stop reading. It’s been awhile since that happened. The book ends on a cliffhanger so ‘I am on to book 2 and happy to read it’s a duology.

Dear Roman C. Kitt, you are the sun, the moon, the earth, and the stars, and I thank Rebecca Ross for making you!

This book was beautiful. It grabbed my heart with the very first line and never let it go. These characters and this setting are so rich and just feel like a warm embrace. And Roman, well, Roman was perfect.

I can’t wait to devour Ruthless Vows and see where this journey ends!

This is a new favorite, reminding me just how much I love Rebecca Ross' writing. I can't wait until December 26th, when Ruthless Vows comes out as audiobook!

I really enjoyed this book, I got quite absorbed in it and was annoyed when my reading was interrupted 😆 The plot is sort of like You've Got Mail (which is based on another older story) but set in WWI or WWII, but with Gods instead of countries leading the war. I think all of that was done well. I loved all of the side characters we got to meet. There was some really beautiful writing. I figured out what was happening towards the end of the story and dreaded the cliffhanger it would lead to, it will be a painful wait for the next book!
