Je refuse de croire qu'elle va terminer sa vie avec Oro, c'est hors de question, rendez-moi Grim s'il vous plaît

4.5 stars rounded down. Wow! I was impressed with this. Usually I can see plot twists coming but this had my jaw on the floor a couple of times which is hard to do! I really enjoyed the storyline and the characters. I like Isla as the FMC! Only reason it wasn’t a 5 star for me was because the world-building was very basic at the beginning. I feel like more could have been put in there so as to get a better picture of this world earlier on. I developed a picture of everything as the book went further on, but at the beginning I felt like I was pulling at strings a little bit trying to put it together.

Most definitely Team Grim. Idk but I pictured Oro as this really old man so all that just threw me off there…I since have seen depictions and descriptions of him as a younger looking, handsome blonde guy but yeah definitely thought he was old for like 75% of this book.

Overall can’t wait to read the rest of the series!

reading slump material but the vibes were good I guess if that’s all you’re here for. this book could’ve benefitted from a few chapters of backstory. the plot twists were good but have been done before… this movie is going to be terrible.

i could go on and on about why i'm giving this book one star, but i will chalk it down to the points listed below:

1. why eggs
2. i never once rooted for grimshaw from nightshade (why are he and oro centuries old going for 18-19 year old isla?)
3. the female rulers had such high stakes for their curses and then it fell so flat for most of the male rulers (am i supposed to feel bad for azul's people not being able to fly when cleo's people are DROWNING??)
4. wildling, starling, skyling, sunling, moonling, NIGHTSHADE. WHY NOT NIGHTLING
5. if you think about the plot and world-building for more than 5 seconds, nothing actually makes sense. the wildlings can only sustain themselves on human hearts... where are these hearts coming from ?? there is no way there are that many prisoners and thieves for each wildling to get food on their plate every single day
6. the lgbt representation being the throwaway characters
7. i've heard of mary sues but isla's got wildling, nightshade, AND starling powers now?
8. starstick

i was willing to give it two stars. i really was. but an EGG ???

4⭐️.

This book was so intriguing to me I didn’t expect to love it the way I did. The plot twist was crazy jaw dropped.I liked the characters they were interesting and the way the book too I didn’t expect it. I will be definitely continuing the series I hope we find more out in the next book or more backstory on it.
