A great accompaniment for our trip to Peru and Machu Picchu. Recounts Hiram Bingham’s original “discovery” of the area and more the recent situation.
Enjoyed his Alaska book more.

Between the three separate narrative threads and the hard-to-keep-track-of Quechuan names, this book was often confusing. But when I wasn't confused, I enjoyed the history, adventure, and humor Adams brought to the story.

Great preparation for a trip to Machu Picchu but probably not for the casual reader. Many reviewers complained about the switching back and forth between Hiram Brigham and the author’s explorations of Peru but I thought it was perfectly balanced. It allowed the history to be told but you didn’t have to be bogged down in it.
A fun romp down the Inca Trail. I found this via an interview he did for his other book on Geeks Guide to the Galaxy. I may read that one too but I'm worried it is a little less grounded in reality so I may not. I will look out for more of his books tough.

Funny, well-written account of a man's trips to Machu Picchu in the steps of Hiram Bingham and in search of the history and meaning of the ancient Incan ruins.
It was ok book. I learned new things, but too few to justify 300 pages. I'd be better off just to read facts about Machu Picchu, but if someone would like to read about other person's experience of traveling there - maybe this book would be more enjoyable.

I rated this 4 stars as it provided some incite for my upcoming trip to Peru.
