At one point in the book, Mark Adams describes what Hiram Bingham wanted to create through Inca Land--"a combination of adventure, exploration and historical research." I feel like this is what you get from his account of his trips to Machu Picchu with a little less of actual exploration and more biographical account of Hiram Bingham. While it took me a few chapters to get into the pace of the narrative, by end I was ready to pack my bags and hop a plane to Peru.
