Took a little bit to get into the story. Had to look up a summary about halfway just to make sure I had a grasp of what was going on during the first half. Around the midpoint I got a little more into the story. But when it got recommended to me a year ago I got the impression it would be a different story .. same realm but different action if that makes sense. I liked the concept but the execution was a little lackluster for my taste. Overall it wasn’t a bad story. It was a nice slow story. I just didn’t see the godly praise that has been said about it.

I love literary prose, but the writing here was so unnecessarily pretentious. Rather than adding to the experience, it completely ruined the act of reading what otherwise may have been an interesting narrative.
