Cumplir la meta de mantener vivo a su hijo hasta el último momento. Puede decirse que el padre y el hijo tienen dos actitudes muy diferentes frente a la adversidad, el padre más realista y el hijo más solidaria, un tanto inverosímil pues el hijo ha vivido toda su vida en ese mundo y no conoció el mundo anterior en el que no había premura por sobrevivir. Pero es posible que el final lo explique un poco, que tal vez el padre fue forzado al pesimismo, dada su propia condición.
People have been asking me to read Cormac McCarthy, so I started with “The Road”. An apocalyptic story of a man and his son who leave up north and try to make their way to the coast, the ocean, hoping that the fire they carry will lead them to where a possible future lies. the story really rolled out in a believable way, descriptive, emotional, sad … As the father does what he must to save them both, there’s the consistent truth that the boy is just a child, and even though he’s known that bad things can happen, he doesn’t want to be part of making bad things happen. He’s still got a good soul trapped in a horrific world. It was a good book, written so well, so thoughtfully and so deep, I will read it again.
As a side note, I think I would choose to stay in an underground bunker made by a survivalist or prepper; I mean no one has found it in years, I think my chances would be better in there at least for a while.

I’ve got mixed feelings about this one. The good parts were reallyyyyy good but a lot of it was incredibly slow. The lack of apostrophes and dialogue queues, while done with a pretty cool reason, really distracted me throughout. The ending was pretty great though. The story is incredibly dark throughout, and I love me a great sad story. Overall, I think I like it, and it’s gonna sit with me for a while.
