This book was amazing!! I was surprised by the ending and how fast this book hooked me in. It had me on the edge of my seat and made me not want to stop reading it. The ending has me wishing for another book so I can see what happens next!!!

This book made me feel like I was watching a movie. I could vividly see everything happening in my head, which hasn’t happened in YEARS! This book freaked me out, I never read it with my feet hanging down and preferred to not read it with my door open lol cause I was scared I’d see a shadow.

This was pretty much your typical haunted house story, which is usually my thing, but it just felt the same as every other haunted house story so it didn’t really stand out to me as anything special. I did like the last little twist though.

This one takes off quickly and pulled me right in. I have to admit to not liking the dad, Jon, at all. He started out as what I would call carefully controlled arrogant, but his character flaws are soon magnified. I was impressed with the development of all four main characters (or devolvement as the case may be). I loved Danni, the mom, as well as the richness of the history at play. Highly recommended.

The Demonic was a decent book that follows a family of four as the revisit on the past of the mother.
At first it gave me Texas Chainsaw 3D vibes, then it gave me Insidious vibes and then finally as it concluded it gave me a typical formulaic and predictable horror movie vibes.
It was decent, fast paced which I liked in the beginning but despised as the story continued and was highly glossed over in certain parts. Give me more of the backstory, show me a good deep dive, involve the townspeople, give me 100 pages more to make me care about the characters.
Some scenes felt out of place, like the funeral scene I felt should have been later in the story. The scene where Alex is looking up the history felt to perfect. And gawd do I hate a skeptic. Like yeah, be skeptical but when you are experiencing and seeing things then it gets dumb and unconvincing.
There were parts where I thought things were going to go somewhere and they didn't. The scene with the old lady in the beginning, the bar scene they just fizzled out and died, like my care for these characters. After a while I just started skimming because I was ready to see the big finale.
The big bad was interesting. I like the subtle way that it ensnares its victims and I would have enjoyed getting the history of it. Where it came from? How long had it been there? Why it hasn't affected any of the townspeople? Or has it? I also like that the author used history from his own hometown.
Overall, it was a decent read and while predictable I still enjoyed myself in various parts of the book.

I thought this was okay. There were some parts of it that I felt like we were taking forever to get to a climax. Overall, it was good for a short read but I think I wanted more to develop with the characters and the big sections to be more intense than they were.
