The writing itself was heartfelt and raw throughout. However, I did feel it was not as strong at the beginning than at the end. At times I also struggled with the nonlinear timeline but this is likely a personal preference.

I connected with the chapters that focused on his relationship with his dad and stepmother, but not with the rest.
The book has more gore than I expected, which I'm very sensitive with.
Graphic: Blood, Gore, and Lesbophobia
Moderate: Bullying

stevienotnicks's review against another edition
He focused way too much on graphic details of his sex life that was way too TMI…and an odd focus on shitting.
I appreciated hearing his turmoil and struggle with identity, but I couldn’t get past the prose, which felt like he was trying to force something profound that just wasn’t there.
Graphic: Homophobia, Sexual assault, Sexual content, Transphobia, and Adult/minor relationship
Moderate: Blood and Suicidal thoughts
Minor: Vomit and Deadnaming
