This was rather sweet! A pretty simple story, but it had a good heart and a happy ending which sometimes is all that is needed. I do wish we had gotten to see more of Frances and Sebastian bonding and becoming friends. The back third of the book did move a little too quickly, going from nothing, to everything happening all together. I think spreading it out a little bit more could have helped the pacing, and could have built up some better tension!!
I especially wish we had gotten to see more of the king and queen's development in regards to their acceptance of Sebastian.
The art in this book was very cute!! I absolutely loved getting to see all the fun dress designs throughout the book!! You can tell that Wang loves dressing up her characters!!

It has been a while since I had loved a book this much!
Cute. Brave. Courageous. Lovely.
So good in ways I can’t express.

An amazing graphic novel that surrounds the important identity discoveries that plague teenage years the story follows both the prince who loves to wear dresses and be feminine and a dressmaker trying to follow her dreams of making beautiful unique clothes when the two meet they stumble openly and honestly through the process of coming out, first love, attraction, expectations and dreams when I tell you the characters eyes told the story just as well as the dialogue I’m not joking truly the expressiveness and detail in this book is so refreshing and will be highly recommended by me until I’m old and gray and can’t talk about anything but card games.
My only negative notes are the lack of conflict that followed the princes outing and the lack of how to talk with parents in a healthy realistic way about identity especially when it comes to being queer I also didn’t love that at it’s core it had the prince shows poor girl hope only to rip it away in favor of hiding his secret I understand how things like this can tear friendships apart not being seen and dishonesty on any level can be hard to get over but instead of addressing that they just glaze it’s over with the cute but unfortunately not helpful or realistic ending.
