Absurd and an excellent example of awesome postmodern literature. The fourth wall breaking, the random temporal throws, all of it, brilliant.

“There is no beginning, no middle, no end, no suspense, no moral, no causes, no effects. What we love in our books are the depths of many marvelous moments seen all at one time.”
The nonlinearity and sporadic time skips through the novel was a cleverly way of encapsulating the complexity of war itself. The whole book felt like it was exploring a "what now?" after the war, an attempt to take back some pieces of yourself, even if you don't know what is left to recover. So it goes.

An interesting comedy about an experience utterly horrific. Whilst in places the narrative structure and more absurd elements can feel like they weaken the impact of the descriptions of war, they are necessary in crafting the book's strong identity.
An important note that should be included in modern editions is that the Dresden casualty figure of 135,000 is outdated, with the modern estimation being 25,000. So it goes. This number being lower does not, however, downplay Vonnegut's experience. It fact, it only makes the larger destruction of WWII more horrifying.

Very interesting perspective on PTSD I would say, I really like how it moved narratively and explained the non-linearity.

Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut
It was a difficult book for me to read. The plot is a mixed bag of a war story, sci-fi. and PTSD all in one book. In my opinion, the main narrator should be considered unreliable.
