I loved Nina, she was such a pure, joyous and hopelessly romantic character that you just wanted to protect her from everything bad and felt proud of her when she stood up for herself. Meanwhile, Hector isn't completely in my good graces but I will allow the ending because that is what Nina wanted and I want her to have anything she wants.

The initial draw to Moreno-Garcia's work is the interesting and genre-bending plots, which always exceed my expectations. However, I love that despite the many genres she moves between I can always rely on her writing very authentic and complex characters that I remember long after I've closed the book.

Enjoyed this lil thing, though I wish the magic was more fleshed out. There's a few time skips where character development (in this case Nina's control of her powers) is done off screen and that is kind of a bummer. Cute and liked the inner turmoil of the characters ✨✨
