I don't have a single complaint. I can't find one. I think what I will say up front is that if you're someone who has never connected with a CoHo book before, you probably won't like this one, but if you have, then good news: it's so good.

Kenna's life is changed forever when she serves 5 years in prison for a car accident that killed her boyfriend. When she gets out, her mission is to connect with the daughter she never got to know, but a lot is standing in her way. Meanwhile, there's a hot bartender she starts getting to know, sparks fly and all that, you know?

I was worried at times that the romance in the book would take away from the main goal of Kenna: to finally get to be in her daughter's life, but it didn't. Her daughter was the center of the entire thing. Yes, this is a love story and technically a romance, but I think it's very much a story about family, too. Found family born out of tragedy, and it's really damn beautiful.

"Are you gonna live in your sadness or are you gonna die in it?"

I've only read three books by Colleen Hoover, but this book was by far the best. Reminders of Him tells the story of Kenna, who after being released from prison five years after a tragic accident, goes on a journey to reconnect with her daughter who was taken from her shortly after birth, and Ledger, the man in town who stands the best chance of helping her forge that connection.

This book was a beautiful story of forgive and healing. I sobbed almost the entirety of this book. It was so good, I devoured this in one afternoon, I wish I could give it more than five stars.

I am absolutely wrecked. As a infant and child therapist, this book hit me incredibly hard. As someone who lost their brother in a car accident two years ago, this book destroyed me. My brother used to make fun of me for being afraid of birds, so the pigeon detail in this book shattered me… This story conveyed so many things about my career and my journey with grief that I have not been able to put into words. I am so, so grateful to Colleen for writing this book; it feels like she went into my soul and wrote this book for me to have some catharsis. Thank you, Colleen. I can never repay you for all that this book has given me.
