Book #2 0f 2011 - Ahhhh, refreshing. The huge format is fun, but not great for reading in bed. Loved the creativity, storytelling, and mythos of this.

I finally have the entire set and it's beautiful to look at on the shelf. The recoloring is gorgeous. It's a thing of joy to reread these stories all at once, seeing all the little bits of hints and foreshadowings in the earliest pages.

I only have one "complaint": the books are too large and heavy to read while curled up on the sofa!

Not as consistent in tone as I expected, and at times it very much plays at the late 80s Vertigo paradigm. But overall, it was well worth checking out and I'll see to more in the future.

Neil Gaiman is such a generous writer and this story, with its ever expanding narrative corners, is a perfect expression of his writerly attitude of abundance. Though this story starts out like any comic book affair, what Gaiman does with his characters, and central questions, as soon as the first arc completes is what makes it special. I highly recommend this to anyone, particularly anyone who hasn't had the opportunity to take comics seriously in the past.
