I wanted a good mystery with the ups and downs of long standing, close friendships. What I got was the saga of four women reconnecting after twenty years with two mysterious threads.
I guessed all of the reveals by the time I was half way through the book and I wasn't convinced by the connections of these 'good friends'. They were terrible friends with little in common other than how little they trusted each other.
I found the writing to have an odd pace, rushed at times, too slow at other points. It felt disjointed quite often which I put down to the author actually being two people.
For me not to finish a book is virtually unheard of. Two stars for me means I didn't particularly enjoy it but I wanted to know if I was right so I finished the book!
This is holiday chick-lit about gossip and lies. It's a straight to TV afternoon movie on Channel 5. If I'd have gone into it knowing this I'd have enjoyed it more although even as free Kindle download I probably wouldn't have chosen it.
