Las ilustraciones son muy bellas, solo no pude conectar del todo con la historia. Me sentí mal por el esposo siendo engañado todo ese tiempo, nadie merece un amor a medias.
This is the love story of two people who long for each other for years and years but can't quite find together. Ana lives a settled life, she has a job, a husband and a daughter – Zeno, forever a heartbreaker and a bachelor, lives an unconventional life on the sea. They stay in touch mostly through letters.
The story is told from the end to the beginning. We get to know them with gray hair and a certain mellowness that comes with age, and then follow their lives backwards. How did they meet? And why did they live apart from each other for so many years?
The illustrations are beautiful. I particularly loved the way the gorgeous old European city and the characters were portrayed – the expressions in Ana's and Zeno's faces are lovely.
This is such a heartwarming, tender, beautiful and slightly melancholic story. I noticed it's the author's debut graphic novel – very well done!

A beautiful story full of compassionate and interesting characters who understand that life is a little messy. The storytelling structure is fascinating, with only short bits of the character's lives being shown throughout the years and in reverse, from old to young. The last bit is shown in reverse and has no dialogue, which I loved.
Throughout the book, Ana works on a city building project to erect a bridge across a river with sandy shores. She only figures out the solution bit by bit with Zeno's help, which is the perfect metaphor for how they build their relationship across a nearly impossible distance together.
I immediately want to read this book again.

4.5 stars. I'm not quite sure how to describe this book, but it was so lovely. I quite enjoyed the reverse chronological format, plus the mirroring of the ending frames and beginning frames. I also loved the humor and care taken in illustrating this book. Delightful.
This is pretty much a very sweet, slightly longer than a short, possibly, Pixar movie-in-comic-form, to me. A man and a woman meet in their later years, seemingly reunited, insinuating a romantic date of some kind. Only the story proceeds through that date, and then goes backwards to the very first moment they met, illustrating the complications this path took. For one, the woman is married and she says she’s been in love with him for 40 years, but it’s their first date.
So, many questions naturally surface. The man, we learn, is a physics professor—though very much in a Pixar way, as he explains his theory of time possibly moving backwards, under certain circumstances. It’s sentimental and romantic, and he uses moths as a device to showcase his point, even though… he’s a physics professor. The book proceeds like this throughout, showing some connective tissue between plot beats revealed already later on.
I found it endearing, but I did think the story would have been even better with a bit more character development, because as is, it takes a certain amount of faith from the reader. Especially when the dialogue is only passable. I love the illustration style and the colour palette though, it’s absolutely gorgeous.
