This was a stark contrast to how I felt when I read Mateer's other work, [b:Aphrodite Made Me Do It|43819413|Aphrodite Made Me Do It|Trista Mateer|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1549178206l/43819413._SY75_.jpg|68190011]. It might be because this one is more personal and centers very heavily on her past relationships. It feels like an ode to relationships and breakups. I couldn't relate to it very much being someone that has only ever been in one relationship. I would say there were more poems in here that I didn't gel with, making my overall enjoyment less than ideal.

Though the writing and the poetry was great on a technical level, I didn't feel much of an impact from any of the poems. I was able to pick out two lines that I really liked, but that's it. By contrast I remember reading her other collection and absolutely adoring most of the poems if not all of them. I will say the poems she wrote about texts she shouldn't have sent to her ex will forever live in my head. I am still very interested in picking up [b:Artemis Made Me Do It (2)|60182544|Artemis Made Me Do It (2) (Myth and Magick)|Trista Mateer|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1653141466l/60182544._SY75_.jpg|94919194].

Trista Mateer’s poetry is truly so beautiful and so relatable. This collection of poems was organized in such an interesting way. I truly enjoyed the story she told through these poems.

I loved it

I just enjoyed every poem in this collection which is rare for me. I also loved the flow/progression of what is being said in this book; it is very well done.

A couple of my favourites include Fresh Mint, Salt, To Be a Metaphor for Starlight, 4/23, and How to Not Forgive.

Stunning. Stunning. Stunning. This is my favorite of Mateer’s. Her way with words in this poetry collection is exquisite. She has a way of describing want and love and heartbreak in a way that will make you ache and take you back in time.

I know poetry is subjective but this is bad. I. Wanted to punch her on every page turn. Cuz she dont want to be loved but she do and she sleeps with other people in order to forget he does the same and then complains about all of it and im like what. U complained about the routine of watching movies but then complained about not having one. And sleeping with others i just cant

I can't get enough of Trista.
This book , this story, which I guess it's her story, broke me and also built me up in many different ways. It's beautifully written and I honestly can't wait to dive into Honeybee to read more of Trista's work.
Congratulations in such a beautiful poetry collection.

This was another great poetry book I found myself obsessed with recently!

Although this book is very short within it holds so many great lessons and messages that anyone and everyone could benefit from!
