Love James Paterson. Everything about this book was lame!! Very disappointing plot, characters and writing.

Like an episode of NCIS. Feels like a first book in a series.

Enjoyed the IT cyber security aspect of this story. I hope there are more like it.

My last book of 2020, and it was a wild ride! I loved this story of 22 years old Angela Hoot who was kicked out of MIT’s graduate program and was now an intern at the FBI investigating the murders of young women and their families. Angela is a genius coder and she needs to hack the computers and phones of these women to track the killers.
Angela’s mentor, Eve, helps Angela navigate the FBI’s case. Her supervisor, Billy Keats, and her bestie, Melanie, aka AA, also play a big part in the story.
When Angela gets close to cracking the case, the story turns up a notch.
Fast-paced and intriguing, I hope this is the start of a new series with a strong female protagonist.

Like other people have said, men really shouldn't try to write in a woman's voice. It made Angela a really clunky character. So much so that at some points I found myself rooting for the criminals.

In fact, at one point when the Engineer and the Poet were transporting her in the van I actually wished they would just make good on their threats

It wasn't a terrible book, and was quite an easy read. I did like the hackers trying to outsmart each other storyline, but I just found it hard to be invested in the main character.

It was okay.

It's a typical case of a man writing a woman - they don't do it very well. Angela started off as a strong female lead who's brilliance was unrivalled, and then poor decision after poor decision by a supposed genius just seemed to get her further and further into trouble. There's also the case of her wondering whether she may be bisexual for about 10 minutes, kisses her friend and then it's never mentioned again.

The plot was okay, a little slow in some places.

While I understand the popularity of James Patterson, I wouldn't rush to read one of his books again.

James Patterson is the perfect author for delivering "I.D. Channel" vibes in his books. Always intriguing and quick reads.
