Another 4.5 star book, but this one I decided to round down because of a few little things.

-Dustfinger is different! I love that he comes back from the dead and we don’t lose this character forever. However, I don’t love that when he comes back he’s treated more like Mo’s dog than a real person. I also don’t love that his fear and scars are gone! If you wanted a new character, just bring out a new character!

-Farid and Dustfinger’s parting. In the first two books Farid is obsessed with Dustfinger. But now all of a sudden he’s ready to just go off on his own? They were such a cute little pair and I don’t like that it just like ends no explanation.

-Resa becomes a Swift sometimes but with no consequences? The Megpie goes crazy because of the seeds, but Resa is just like…special? I don’t know, it felt like maybe the author was reaching for a happily ever after moment that the book wasn’t ment for.

-This book is long. And I like long books! But it feels very long when you’re reading it.

However, lots of this book was very good. I am still in love with this world and all the colourful characters and places. Even then less important characters have little personally quirks that make me fall in love with them. I also loved the ending of this book! The little chapter about how their son is so curious about the “real world” and the underlying idea that the grass is always greener on the other side hits me hard.

Overall, a very satisfying conclusion to a great series!

This was a blast. I absolutely enjoyed how this trilogy came to an end and how all the characters helped get there. The different POVs of each chapter were fun, and even though it started quite slow, the second half of it was very much worth it.

What an end to an incredible trilogy!! No one loves books more than Cornelia Funke and I just adore her world building, characters, and storytelling. I also can’t believe we get a surprise fourth book?? More than 10 years after the third came out???

Precious ❤️

Reading these books has been a great ride! I can't believe I never read this when I was younger. This series is so meta. It's very entertaining! I would definitely recommend picking up this series!

Pretty good ending to the series but omfg this was so depressing it was hard to keep going lmao
