Obsessed
Yeah I’m obsessed with this book, the characters, the plot. It’s all so amazing. I normally don’t go too dark, but I decided to try this.I was not sorry. The characters alone make it worth it. There is development with the characters, but more with the plot. The pace was a little fast, but it flowed well.

This is a dark read (though, there is a small amount of comedic relief with the characters banter.) On the run and in hiding from becoming someone's sex slave, Hailee and her father find themselves in a small-ish town and working with the local police. One of whom is assigned to the task of playing babysitter. Once he meets the beautiful young woman, he has no complaints. Neither do his six other brothers. The seven of them take on the role of judge, jury and executioner when it comes to people who tend to hurt women and children. Known to the locals as the Deadly Seven (though supposedly no one knows their real identities.) Each of the seven has a unique specialty which helps them in their crusades. While the book is centered on them all keeping her safe, what really keeps you interested is how the relationships form between Hailee and each of the seven individually, and as a whole. Yes there is sexual content, and mention of things that have happened in the past that may be triggers for some readers, including non/dubious consent, and abuse. This book is suitable for mature readers. It is part of a series and ends with a cliffhanger. It alternates between the POVs of all the key players, but each change is clearly labeled so not confusing. If you are more nit-picky, there were a few editing errors. Nothing that throws you off though.

Completely unrealistic with how the characters act towards each other and how the father handles her relationship with seven men while in WITSEC…but yes, I am reading the next one.
Graphic: Child abuse, Murder
Moderate: Bullying, Pedophilia, Rape, Sexual assault, Toxic relationship, Stalking

DNF at 30%. Actually surprised I made it that far. No real character set up. The 7 main men (who, let's face it, are acting like bratty elementary school kids not getting their way) have no personality. The "demons" they keep referencing don't make any sense. Hell, I still don't think I know the female MC's actual age at this point. Even the plot of the book itself is highly questionable.
The narrative jump from person to person is awkward at best, and the boys are all written in the same tone that it feels like one giant character. I just... honestly I just lost part of my day putting myself through that. The blurb intrigued me, but should have left it well alone.
Pretty sure I've read fanfiction by 12year olds that was better than that...

Check you trigger warnings!! Solid RH. Things move pretty fast between the characters at points and it felt alittle unnatural at parts, but still very solid book. I will be reading the second one.
This has been on my TBR list forever and a day and should have been moved up much sooner. However, the silver lining? I got to immerse myself into the story and the characters for the first time ever through the audio delights of Bridget and Jake Bordeaux. They are the dream team at bringing characters to life and having you enthralled. Onto Book Two I go.....
