I tore through this book in a total of two sittings and afterward I had sweat completely through my shirt, had to change and lie down to stare at the wall for thirty minutes. Every single strength of FC Yee’s writing style shines brilliantly on each page.

Going into the series I was very excited, and I will say I'm satisfied with the story. However, I wish it had more queer representation, more than just the occasional kiss. I was also hoping for an epilogue about the founding of Kyoshi Island and the Kyoshi warriors, so I'd love a third book about that and Chin the Conquerer.

Overall though, a wonderful read for Avatar fans! 💙

Really good I didn’t love the fire nation stuff but I suppose you aren’t ment to. Loved the development and hated Yun. I really want there to be another book about her later years about chin the conqueror the kyoshi warriors and the founding of kyoshi island

I can't believe this is the end. I need another book. Kyoshi lived so long. Give me her entire life. I'm begging.

The first book was good but this one is so much better! Kyoshi her growth and struggles are written so well. And you learn a lot about Avatars before her.

Highly recommend for Avatar fans🪭🪭!

Ate this book up bc was super invested and addicted. Loved the politics of the fire nation and how things we took 4 granted in the ALTA series had to be thought of and planned for in the past- like the fire nation not having clans and explaining y the Dai Li was so necessary which was already explored in book 1. Loved the exploration of kyoshis biggest flaw of refusing to move of of neutral jing then once she does kinda becomes a disaster. Thought Rangi was supposed 2 die but didn’t in the end which almost made me slightly more dissatisfied bc I was emotionally and mentally prepared and they were 4shadowing 2 her death anyway but ig i shouldn’t complain. Main complaint is wished explored Kuruk more and wanted a scene where kyoshi explains 2 Hei-Ran all the sacrifices he made 4 her and the world. Nice how book explores a unique theme of bad guys simply being bad. To top it all off the ending is wonderful ironic.
