The best out of the 3. Although I loved the first one a lot. Lucian is just someone you love no matter how crazy it gets.

I have really enjoyed the knockmeout series. The first one was exciting and I loved the town, the side characters, the family focus, and yes the romance.  The second one is pretty emotional heavy and was slow for me so I was hesitant to go into the third. With that said, this third book is more a second chance romance you get flashbacks from the two character history in high school that’s been teased the entire series. Sloane is a bubbly, funny, and eccentric bookworm like myself that would do anything to protect who and what she loves. Lucian is the touch her and you die suit daddy of your dreams. Their banter is so believable and fun to read. Highly recommend this one of the whole series.
Spice warning I feel 4 peppers!

Lucien frustrates me. It feels like a lot of his anger has been misplaced on Sloane. What was a 16 year old girl supposed to do in that situation? Honestly?

Still enjoyed the ending. Had to stop and have a good long cry during the gift scene in the epilogue

  • “Sounds like the guy you’re not worried about didn’t grow up with any kind of emotional support to show him what it’s like to be a real man in a real relationship…a guy like that might think the only way he can keep something safe is by keeping his distance” - Joel about Lucian (page 414 things we left behind)
  • “The only think I liked more than a closed library was an open one. Surrounded by all those books, all those worlds waiting to be explored on the page. The ASMR-like buzz of whispers, keyboards, and turning pages. But I usually enjoyed the after-hours silence almost as much. “ - Sloane (page 458 things we left behind)

I really loved this book and would recommend it to those who enjoy romance and mystery along with the rest of the series.

I gave it 4 stars because it really makes you think and try to solve the mystery and connect all the pieces, which I thoroughly enjoy. It’s not getting 5 stars just because it didn’t fully capture my attention like that. I love the character Lucian and want to be him. I have a hard time picturing sloane for some reason but I still love her as well!
