A cracking good read. The love story is a formally perfect romance novel, the Bond-Leiter chemistry is enormously comforting, and the action is top-notch – the fistfight in the Pink Garter being a particular standout, even if it's a bit tangential to the plot.
The chapter in the mud baths is a flaw, though, and a big enough flaw to impact my rating. All the author's prejudices and hangups seem to be on display, and as a result this part of the story is even more unpleasant than it was intended to be.
