I picked up this book because I was intrigued by the title. This is a southwest folktale about greed, friendship, and cleverness.

A great moral message, and it's really nice to the have the bilingual edition for families and people wanting to learn the language.

Cute, but not sure it stands the test of time. It isn't actually folklore as it draws on several sources.

This book is always a hit among my students. They love the message. They love the ending where the neighbor gets what he deserves. They go crazy when they find out what the spoon is. Many of my fifth graders said that this was their favorite picture book this year so far (we have read 15).
