Loved how easy the book was to read, keeping you engaged at all times. Two strong female characters with well written time jumps and intriguing storylines. Interesting portrayal of the question many women face, can they pursue a career while being a wife and mother.
I stayed engaged, but BIG leaps in the plot, especially with respect to emotional regression, made it feel silly, even with serious themes.

I really enjoyed this historical fiction/mystery book. I thought the two voices intertwined nicely and the story comes together in a way I thought was exciting and unpredictable.
The only thing I was left wondering about was what happened to Pearl’s relationship with Laura. As an adult, Pearl rarely talks to Sadie about her life and her family but we don’t ever really see a deterioration of their relationship in the past, so it just seemed out of place.
