I wanted to read this book because I absolutely love Tessa Bailey. I loved the Bellinger Sisters series and I love mystery and with the added spice I thought I would enjoy it. I really did, I thought it was a really good read.

There are two points of view within this book. The first one is Taylor Bassey. She is on vacation. It was supposed to be relaxing trip in sweet, sunny Cape Cod – just her and her younger brother – but after discovering a corpse in the rental house everything changes. Now a rude and distasteful bounty hunter has arrived on the back of his motorcycle to catch the killer and refuses to believe that Taylor can be helpful, despite countless hours of true crime podcast listening and the fact that she teaches second graders. The second point of view is Myles Sumner. He is here to do a job, not babysit an amateur sleuth. Although it is becoming less and less of a hardship to have her around. Sure, he thinks she’s stubborn, distracting and can’t stay out of harm’s way. She's also brave and beautiful and reminds me of the home I left behind three years ago. In other words, the painful hunger and protectiveness she is waking up in him is a threat to his peace of mind. Before he sink any deeper into this dangerous attraction, he needs to solve this murder and get back on the road. But will fate take Taylor away from Myles before he realizes the road has been leading to her all along? A bounty hunter and an elementary schoolteacher – the murder-solving team no one asked for, but thanks to the attempts on both of their lives, they have stuck together.

Tessa Bailey does it again! I absolutely loved my damaged little Myles I just wanted to hug him the whole time reading this book. I love me some broken fictional men and this man was broken but so so good. I love the spice and I love the way they both showed the way they wanted to love each other. Taylor was so loving; her heart was huge, and I want her as a best friend please. Jude trying to help his sister get laid but also being disgusted on his sister’s love life just made me giggle. Jude gave this book so much life and I swear to god, I wanted more of him. The only thing I would say is a weakness is I wanted more of the suspense it was like 75% spice 25% suspense where I would have loved it to be more of 50/50 or even more suspense less spice. I also think Tessa does better with bigger books. I was surprised when this book was only 290 pages, I wanted more and was used to more. I think if it was slightly bigger, it could have had more suspense. I’m not a fan of the insta-love either and much prefer the slow burn that Tessa is good for but it worked with this book due to the vacation vibes.

Overall, I love Tessa’s work and would have loved for this to be a series, I want Jude to be happy and there is such a back story behind him, and Dante and I have so many questions between what happens with them, I would like to know. Please. I beg you.

I stayed up till 2am finishing this book. Could not put it down. Woke the husband and children with my laughter.
This may be Tessa Bailey’s best one yet.
True crime podcast fan meets bounty hunter for a hot/cold grumpy/sunshine whirlwind.

I really loved this book. I mean it’s Tessa Bailey so I usually adore anything she writes but this might be my favorite of all her books. I loved how it combined my two favorite genres romance and mystery. It was well done and the spice was “chefs kisses 😘”. Great book definitely recommend you read it

i don't know how to feel about this book tbh. it wasn't what i expected at all. i was all into the whole murder mystery thing and that's why i chose this book and i must say, i was really disappointed when 90% of the book was just the mmc and fmc flirting around, having (almost) sex and myles having his "i cannot have her, i'm not husband material, no strings attached / i want her so bad, my heart flutters when i see her, i want her to have my kids" inner monolog. i also didn't feel the chemistry between him and taylor in the beginning because it all just happened way too fast and was mostly about the sex and how gorgeous talyor's body is. i started to like the book more about halfway through and the epilogue was cute, too. one thing that particularly annoyed me: myles on the cover does not look like myles as described in the book and i hate that. what's with jude and dante? i would've liked more info on that! anyways, it was an okay read with great spice (very great spice) but definitely not one i'd read again or recommend to my friends with all my enthusiasm because the mystery part just wasn't enough for me.

CW: murder, peeping tom, gun violence, assault

Right from the start Taylor and her brother, Jude, are entangled in a murder case. Myles comes on the scene as a favor to the property owner to figure out who murdered her brother. Taylor, who listens to true crime podcasts, inserts herself into the case against Myles wishes. Myles and Taylor have instant chemistry but they have different lives and Myles wants to keep his distance. It's great fun to watch them dance around their feelings and to watch Myles figure out what he really wants.

I really love the other Tessa Bailey books I have read and looked forward to this one despite other reviews but the mystery element promised was really missing. I also wasn't a fan of the romance or of Myles.

This book was great for what it was and what it wanted to be: a funny, spicy romance novel about a second grade teacher and a bounty hunter. I read this book expecting a quick and easy read and I wasn‘t disappointed.
While Taylor was a little over the top „cute“ at times, and Myles turned into too much of a softie at the end I still loved to read about their story. But what about Jude and Dante? There has to be another book coming out right? Because I need to read a book about just the two of them!
The story also felt quite rushed at times due to it taking place over only five days. Their romance also had quite some insta-love I wasn‘t a fan of.
In the end, their banter and spicy scenes where great and I kept changing my mind about who the murderer was, because at least for me, it wasn‘t that easy to guess.
